Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Turkey (85-90% lean)
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil or Avocado Oil
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 6 slices Cheese (Cheddar, American, Provolone)
  • 6 Burger Buns (Brioche, Potato, Whole Wheat)
  • 6-12 Lettuce Leaves
  • 1 large Tomato, sliced
  • 1/2 Red Onion, thinly sliced
  • Pickles, sliced, to taste
  • Your Favorite Burger Sauce, to serve

Method

  1. In a large bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and roll each into a loose ball.
  3. Preheat a heavy-bottomed skillet over high heat for 5-7 minutes.
  4. Add 1 tablespoon of oil to the hot pan and place 2-3 turkey balls onto it.
  5. Cover each ball with parchment paper and smash down with a spatula for 10-15 seconds.
  6. Cook undisturbed for 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then flip and add cheese.
  7. Cook for another 1-2 minutes until cheese is melted and turkey is cooked through.
  8. Toast the burger buns cut-side down in the same skillet for 30-60 seconds.
  9. Assemble the burgers with patties and desired toppings.

Notes

Ensure the pan is very hot for the best sear. Use 85-90% lean turkey for juicy burgers.
