- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together softened butter and 1½ cups sugar for 2-3 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing on low speed just until combined.
- Roll dough into balls and coat in extra sugar.
- Arrange dough balls on prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 3 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and centers are slightly underdone.
- Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Ensure butter is softened, not melted. Measure flour correctly to avoid dry cookies. Chilling dough can prevent excessive spreading.
