Ingredients

  • 12 cups popped popcor
  • 4 cups mini marshmallows
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4-5 colors of gel food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Pop your popcorn and remove all unpopped kernels. Divide the popped popcorn into 4-5 large bowls.
  2. Prepare your workspace by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly buttering your hands.
  3. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine marshmallows and butter. Microwave until melted, stirring frequently. Add vanilla extract and salt.
  4. Divide the melted marshmallow mixture among small bowls and add gel food coloring to each. Stir until evenly colored.
  5. Pour each colored marshmallow mixture over a separate bowl of popcorn and stir to coat thoroughly.
  6. Once cool enough to handle, butter your hands again and form small balls with the colored popcorn.
  7. Place each completed popcorn ball on the prepared baking sheet and let cool completely.

Notes

Work quickly once you add marshmallow to popcorn to prevent sticking. Butter your hands frequently to avoid mess. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
