- Place the Oreo cookies in a food processor or sealed plastic bag and crush them until they resemble fine crumbs. Set aside about one cup for the top layer.
- Beat the softened cream cheese and butter together until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar and mix until fluffy.
- Prepare the pudding by whisking the instant pudding mix with cold milk for about two minutes. Let it set in the refrigerator for five minutes until thickened.
- Fold half of the whipped topping into the cream cheese mixture, then fold the remaining whipped topping into the prepared pudding.
- Layer in a large glass bowl or trifle dish, starting with half the cookie crumbs, then the cream cheese mixture, followed by the pudding mixture.
- Top with remaining cookie crumbs and arrange gummy worms on top. Refrigerate for at least two hours before serving.
Notes
Always soften cream cheese completely for smooth blending. Don't over-crush Oreos; slightly chunky crumbs provide better texture. Use clear serving dishes for visual appeal. Chill for at least two hours to allow flavors to meld. Add gummy worms right before serving.
