  • 1 pound pizza dough
  • 1 cup pizza sauce
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Divide your pizza dough into four equal portions and roll each into a circle about 6-7 inches across.
  3. Spread about 2 tablespoons of pizza sauce on half of each dough circle, leaving a border around the edge.
  4. Sprinkle cheese generously over the sauce and add pepperoni or other fillings on top.
  5. Fold the empty half over the filled half, press the edges together firmly, and crimp with a fork to seal.
  6. Transfer each calzone to the prepared baking sheet, cut two small slits in the top, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with Italian seasoning and Parmesan cheese if using.
  7. Bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
