Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Method

  1. Gather a medium bowl and your whisk. Combine the apple cider vinegar and yellow mustard first. Whisk vigorously until the mixture becomes smooth and uniform.
  2. Add the brown sugar to the vinegar-mustard base. Whisk continuously until the sugar dissolves completely.
  3. Pour in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce. Blend these ingredients thoroughly into your Carolina BBQ Sauce base.
  4. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes. Whisk everything together until no spice clumps remain visible.
  5. Transfer the Carolina BBQ Sauce to a jar or airtight container. Let it rest in the refrigerator for at least two hours before using.
  6. Before serving, shake or stir your Carolina BBQ Sauce well.

Notes

Let your sauce rest overnight for deeper flavors. Adjust seasonings to taste. Use quality apple cider vinegar for the best flavor.
