Ingredients
Method
- Prepare your protein: Brown the ground beef in a skillet, drain excess grease, add onion and cook until softened, then stir in taco seasoning and water.
- Rinse your beans: Thoroughly rinse and drain canned black beans.
- Layer the first round: Spread half of the tortilla chips in the skillet, top with half of the meat mixture, beans, salsa, and cheeses.
- Build the second layer: Repeat layering with remaining chips, meat, beans, salsa, and cheese. Add jalapeƱos if using.
- Melt the cheese: Cook over moderate heat until cheese is melted and chips are toasted, about 8-12 minutes.
- Garnish and serve: Sprinkle with cilantro and serve directly from the skillet with sour cream and guacamole on the side.
Notes
Choose sturdy chips to prevent sogginess. Pre-cook your meat for better flavor and texture. Layer ingredients evenly for the best results.
