Ingredients

  • 4 English muffins, split and toasted
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 4 breakfast sausage patties or bacon strips
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese (American or Swiss also work)
  • 2 tablespoons of butter for cooking eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt, to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper, freshly ground preferred
  • Optional: hot sauce, to taste

Method

  1. Step 1: Cook your protein first. Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook sausage patties for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  2. Step 2: Toast your English muffins while the meat cooks until golden-brown and slightly crispy.
  3. Step 3: Remove cooked sausage and set aside. Reduce heat slightly and add butter to the same pan.
  4. Step 4: Crack eggs into the pan, breaking the yolks gently. Cook for 2-3 minutes until whites set completely.
  5. Step 5: Flip eggs carefully and immediately add cheese slices on top. Cook until cheese melts, about 30 seconds.
  6. Step 6: Assemble your sandwich by layering the bottom muffin, sausage patty, cheesy egg, and top muffin.
  7. Step 7: Serve immediately or wrap for grab-and-go convenience.

Notes

Use room-temperature eggs for even cooking. Cooking eggs in the same pan as meat adds flavor. Toast muffins until crispy to avoid sogginess. Store components separately for best quality.
